In her first US start since being bought at the Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale, DISKO DASKO showed she had acclimatised well to the move to Southern California, by winning a very decent allowance race at Santa Anita. She showed class and great courage for the win.
I would expect her to be able now to step up in grade and be very competitive in Stakes races later on in the meet and then at Hollywood Park.
I was really pleased for owner Deron Pearson and trainer Jim Cassidy as this was their first win from the horses purchased in the UK last fall, and I am certain that she will not be the last
A few days later another October purchase JAZZ ON THE BEACH ran a very decent race to finish 3rd in a $ 75,000 claimer. When I watched the video, I felt that she would definitely have been 2nd ( and might even have won) had she not gone quite so wide crossing the dirt and had she broken out of the gates better. She certainly showed a really good turn of foot and was closing like a train at the end., She will surely win a race or two.
