GREAT DOUBLE IN CALIFORNIA

Last weekend , I had a great double win at Santa Anita

Firstly BYRAMA who I bought for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners at the end of 2011, landed a good allowance race down the hill. What was especially pleasing about this success was that she showed an amazing turn of foot to land the spoils. WIth 1/8th to go it really looked like the best she could muster was a place, but she kicked into overdrive and ran out the cosy winner. A great run. I am sure we will hear a lot more of this filly during 2012. Congratulations to all concerned, Eclipse and  trainer Simon Callaghan

An hour later  TONES who I bought at the Horses in TRaining sale for some english owners and then , with Jamie Lloyd, sold on to California, won his first Stakes race in the Baffle Stakes, also down the hill. It was a very game effort from the front and he only just held on. RIdden a bit differently there should be a lot more to come with this son of Strategic Prince.
Once again congratulations to the connections. It was the first Stakes win for apprentice Eswan Flores, which made it all the more newsworthy
