When she went through the ring at the tattersalls Horses in Training Sale last year FIFTH AVE did not get anyone excited and was RNA at just under 20,000 dollars. I subsequently bought her privately outside the ring for around that figure and she joined the other horses headed to the barn of Jim Cassidy. At the time I believed in this filly even tjhough she had run 13 times in just 6 months. One thing I knew for certain is that she was tough as nails. I had even selected her in my 'booklet ' with the comment

Well on her first USA start yesterday my belief was justified when, as the total outsider in a feild of six, FIFTH AVE destroyed the opposition in a decent allowance race on the donwhill course at Santa Anita

I am probably dreaming now but I remember that the last filly we bought for that sort of money was Katdogawn and I wonder if history can repeat itself
