TECHNICIAN, a colt I picked out for Barry Irwin and Team Valor back in the early part of 2019, went over to France today to run in the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay over 3000 metres at Paris Longchamp. After some rain earlier this week the ground had gone soft which made me hopeful we would get a good run as this colt needs to have some give in the ground.
He broke well and settled nicely in mid pack. I got a little worried with about 5 furlongs to go as he seemed to have droppped back, but Boudot was just biding his time and TECHNICIAN came through in the last two furlkongs with a strong sustained run which took him past the long time leader and favourite Moonlight Spirit to win by just under 1 length.
This was a career best effort and tees him up nicely for some exciting races next year. I think , placed correctly and given the right ground conditions this horse could win a Group 1.
Anyway it was terribly exciting  today and a huge congratulations must go to the Martyn Meade Team and of course to Barry Irwin and Team Valor.
