TECHNICIAN , a 3yo colt by Mastercraftsman, whom I recently sourced for Team Valor, ran a huge race yesterday at Sandown in the Group 3 Bet 365 Classic Trial. He finished 2nd , beaten just over 1 length, even though he had a very rough trip and was squeezed band hampered twice in the last quarter of a mile.

Options for him remain open, but the Epsom Derby must now be under consideration as the extra distance will suit and temperamentally he is perfect for a race such as that. Oisin Murphy said 'this is a very good horse' when he got off him yesterday so we can now hope.

The decision regading the Derby will be taken by Martyn Meade and Barry Irwin closer to the date.

But it was a really pleasing run even though a win would have been that bit nicer
