IRISH FIELD GALLANT 4th IN MIDDLE PARK
IRISH FIELD ran a very solid race to finish 4th behind runaway winner Dream Ahead in the GR 1 Middle Park Stakes at a rain soaked Newmarket this afternoon.
He was only beaten under 1 length for 2nd and was rallying again at the finish. Jockey Kieren Fallon said afterwards that the colt did not apppreciate the soft ground and could not use his pace on it. I am pretty confident we can reverse placings with apoprove and maybe even Strong Suit on better ground.
The obvious next race for the horse would be the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs at the beginning of November but unfortunately the owners would have to stump up an incredible $ 90,000 to nominate the horse so it is unlikely to happen.
Still a great effort today and I still believe that this colt can win a Group 1 at some point in his career.
