IRISH DESTROYS THE FIELD
About two weeks ago I persuaded some clients in Hong Kong to buy the 2yo old IRISH FIELD. Nothing spectacular about this you think. However this colt was trained in Spain and had won two minor races in Madrid before being a good 2nd in a Gr 3 in Paris. A bit of long shot, but how it worked out!!!!!!!!!
Part of the deal was that the colt (although fully paid for) would run in the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin at Maisons Laffitte on Sunday ( 25th July) in the name and colours of the previous owners.
And much tomost people's suprise IRISH FIELD won this Gr2 race in fine style beating ( amongst others) Approve, the winner of the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.
It is a real shame that the colt will now go to Hong Kong as he would have been a force to be reckoned with in races like the Gr 1 Prix Morny and the Gr 1 Middle Park stakes.
Still a real coup for the new owners and it has certainly made me look good to them ...another great Success Story from my team ( that's me and me)
