A WEEK OF NEAR MISSES
It has been a fairly fustrating week, although there have been some positive highlights.
First a filly I bought for Deron Pearson last December in France LAFTA won her first US start by 5 lengths in very pleasing style. Hopefully she can now progress to a Stakes win. Then a filly I had bought very cheaply as a yearling CAPLA GILDA won two races albeit at a low level.,
This week we have had four Stakes placed horses
MIA TESORO ran another solid race in the Listed Upavon STakes at Salisbury finishing 2nd in a strong field
CAPLA TEMPTRESS yesterday ran a huge race in the Lake Placid STakes, a GR 2 at Saratoga. The soft turf and the lack of pace in the race did not help her, but she ran extremely well
QUEEN BLOSSOM ran a creditable 2nd in the CTT Stakes at Del Mar and in the same race AMBOSELLI finished 3rd.
Anopther fill who ran really well was SOPHIE P who was 3rd in the GR 2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes. Probably did not have the best trip. Still it adds to her Satkes achievements and I am sure she can win again back at Santa Anita.
Bought a nice unexposed 2yo colt for Team Valor. Called BERMEJO he had won a race at a provincial track in France by 4 1/2 lengths. The track is very similar to American ovals and I hope he can adapt well to the US style of racing.
FInally the form of DEVANT's nose 2nd in the Prix Six Perfections a few weeks ago was franked when the filly who just beat her won the GR 2 Prix Calvados by 3 lengths.
STill looking for reasonably priced horses for clients and it is now time to start thinking about the Horses in Training sale .
