A SUCCESSFLL WEEK AT TATTERSALLS AND ARQANA

The week started off with my client Deron Pearson taking on the role of seller when both Prize Exhibit and Frenzified went through the ring at Tattersalls.,  Frenzified did not sell and will now race on and then be bred, but Prize  Exhibit did herself proud, selling in the end to the Coolmore Team for 775,000 guineas. Not bad for a filly I bought for the owner three years ago for what now appears to be a modest outlay. The filly also won nearly £ 500,000 in prize money.

Then we got involved in buying some more fillies for the same owner. It was a hard sale. Tiring and frustrating in that many of the lots we had wanted either failed our inspection or failed the vet.
We still managed however to purchase eight nice fillies including
LOt 1440: JAZAALAH a 3yo whose 2nd dam was the great Shadayid. Still a maiden this filly will improve
Lot 1617: CHICA LA HABANA a 2yo filly by Havana Gold > winner of the previouslky Listed Hilary Need;er Trophy at Beverley
LOT 1891: MAY GIRL: 2yo filly by Mayson who is the winner of 2 races and Group 2 placed
LOT 1897: KITTY BOO 3yo filly by Invincible Spirit who has all her conditions for the USA and was recommended by the trainer
LOT 1910: SOPHIE P: Listed placed winner of 4. A 4yo filly by Bushranger. Great physical specimen
LOT 2114: PURSUING THE DREAM: 23yo filly. LOvely sort bought in conjunction with a US agent. This is my pick of the sale. I think she will be rather special
LOT 2196: LABHAY a lightly raced 3yo filly trained by Wiliam Haggis
LOT 2199: PERSISTENCE: We rather liked this filly. Tucked away she was late on and we got her at the right price.

Then Deron and Jim Cassidy his trainer left for the USA and Spain, so my son and I went on to Deauville in Normandy to oversee the selling of another of Deron;s fillies . La Berma. That part of the trip did not go very well as she ended up selling at 9.30pm and although she had been very busy showing and the vibe was good, there were no bids in the ring so we ended up buying her back.
However the journey was not wasted as we managed to pick up two really nice fillies
LOT 16: SNIRVANA a 3yo filly who had won just once, but was known to bleed so should be able to step up considerably once she gets Lasix
LOT 70: LAFTA . A shadwell throw out she was a very nice filly and I was delighted to get her.

All in all a very good week, but it was hard work and I must admit to being somewhat relieved that it is all over now. But the work keeps piling up. Matings to organise, shipping to oversee etc...

It is unlikely that I will be posting again in the near future so if anyone reads this I wish them a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year
